Progressive Railroading is soliciting nominations for the 2026 “Rising Stars” Awards, a recognition program for up-and-coming leaders in North America’s railroad industry.
Progressive Railroading defines a Rising Star as someone under the age of 40 who is making a positive difference in his or her company, department or team, and is viewed by others — peers, colleagues, supervisors, clients or associates — as a rising star in the rail industry.
Progressive Railroading will select 25 Rising Stars and publish their profiles in the magazine’s September issue. In addition, the Rising Stars of 2026 will be honored during a virtual celebration on July 22.
To be considered for the award, nominees must be younger than 40 years old as of Sept. 1, 2026, and currently work in North America’s rail industry. Rising Star candidates must be willing to participate in our process, answer questions from Progressive Railroading staff and supply a photo for publication.
To nominate a Rising Star, fill out this nomination survey. Explain in a detailed, written statement how the nominee goes above and beyond the call of duty to make a difference in the railroad industry. We would like to hear more about the nominee than about their job description or what’s on their resume.
Candidates will be considered for recognition based on qualities such as their contributions to railroading, career achievements, demonstrated leadership, education, training and professional association activity or community involvement.
The nomination deadline is Feb. 27. Nominations submitted after that date will not be considered for recognition in 2026.
