A new Construction Education Success Center at Missouri State’s Kemper Hall will be open to the public during a grand opening ceremony.
A celebration for the10,000-square-foot addition and renovation at the university’s School of Construction, Design and Project Management is set for 9 a.m. Monday, Sept. 29, at the building, 921 S. John Q. Hammons Parkway. It will be in the high-bay training lab.
The $9.6 million project was made possible by funding through the MoExcels Workforce Initiative, as well as private gifts.
“This center positions Missouri State as a leader in preparing the next generation of construction professionals,” said David Meinert, dean of the College of Business, in a news release. “We’re committed to equipping our students with the skills employers need while driving regional economic growth.”
The industry-focused space will expand access to specialized training within the construction management program.
The renovation and addition included features such as:
- A 3,200-square-foot high bay training lab, which is nearly 30 feet high — it will help students gain hands-on proficiency with full-scale construction activities, such as aerial lift training, crane safety and structural steel erection;
- A construction management computing lab;
- A rooftop terrace;
- A student study lounge;
- A surveying technology lab;
- Three collaborative spaces for student teamwork.
