TULSA, Okla. — Happy birthday Tulsey Town! The City of Tulsa is celebrating its 128th birthday.
On January 18, 1898, the City of Tulsa was incorporated. However, settlers from the Muscogee (Creek) Nation were in Tulsa already in the 1830s.
The city has such a deep history. From once being the Oil Capital of the World to being recognized as a cultural hub, Tulsa has quickly become more than just a city in Oklahoma — it’s become a national treasure.
In honor of its birthday, the City of Tulsa shared the following statement:
“We’re celebrating 128 years of history, growth, and community pride. From our rich cultural roots to the people and places that make this city feel like home, Tulsa’s story is still being written every day – by you. Here’s to the innovators, neighbors, artists, entrepreneurs, and public servants who continue to shape our city. Happy Birthday, Tulsa!”
“As we mark another year, we do so with gratitude for those who came before us and a shared responsibility to the Tulsans who will come next,” said Tulsa Mayor Monroe Nichols.
Happy birthday, Tulsa! Here’s to 128 more!
