TULSA, Okla. — Juan Pablo Reinoso is a Tulsa native that has gone on to work in all sorts of roles within the entertainment industry.
Reinoso has experience as a producer, writer, editor, and more. FOX23 spoke with him about his new book, Diary of a Nobody, and what inspired him to write it.
“It seemed like a logical step to help support talent locally,” said Reinoso. “[That’s] sort of…the way the idea progressed in my brain to start writing stories about what I’d experienced in the industry and how [it] doesn’t even matter because a lot of people…have these preconceived notions of what making an industry is and I wanted to show t you can have a full life and career success in this industry without being anybody.”
He also said Tulsa has become a major film hub.
“I think it’s really exciting to see that there’s so many people supporting the industry here and seeing it grow with really solid productions, like with a Sterlin Harjo project…The Lowdown and [reservation] DOGs and things like that,” said Reinoso. “It gives people here that opportunity that people like me didn’t have growing up.”
Reinoso said that the main piece of advice he’d impart on anyone from Green Country wanting to break into the industry is simple: don’t give up.
“Just never give up. I mean, dreams are dreams for a reason, but a dream only stays a dream unless you’re willing to take that step. So, you have to really go out of your way to see who you can meet,” said Reinoso. “The only person that can get in your way is yourself. If you have a dream to be in this industry, anything’s possible.”
Reinoso is currently working on an audiobook version of Diary of a Nobody and is awaiting a response from Barnes and Noble to carry print copies. Until then, the book can be bought from Amazon.
