Marking a major milestone in workforce development, Missouri State University will unveil its School of Construction, Design and Project Management’s new Construction Education Success Center at Kemper Hall on Sept. 29.
The grand opening will begin at 9 a.m. in the high-bay training lab.
The 10,000-square-foot addition and renovation is designed to educate more construction majors and meet industry needs. The $9.6 million project was made possible through funding from the MoExcels Workforce Initiative, as well as private gifts.
“This center positions Missouri State as a leader in preparing the next generation of construction professionals,” said College of Business Dean Dr. David Meinert. “We’re committed to equipping our students with the skills employers need while driving regional economic growth.”
More about the center
The industry-focused space will enable the university to welcome more students into its construction management program, helping ensure more projects are proudly built by Missouri State Bears.
In this facility, experts will provide specialized training, and students will earn credentials tailored to today’s workforce.
Features include:
- A 3,200-square-foot high bay training lab, which is nearly 30 feet high – it will help students gain hands-on proficiency with full-scale construction activities, such as aerial lift training, crane safety and structural steel erection
- Construction management computing lab
- Rooftop terrace
- Student study lounge
- Surveying technology lab
- Three collaborative spaces for student teamwork
“I’m most excited about the new opportunities this space will give us to build our industry and community partnerships,” said School Director Dr. Richard Gebken.
