The media cycle inevitably always returns to Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex. And with the release of the new NBC show Suits LA, a spinoff of Suits, the show that originally made Markle a household name, it’s not shocking to see her back in the spotlight. However, it’s a little surprising that this time Markle is in the news for something that has nothing to do with the show—or even with her royal status.
Markle, who went from normal celebrity status to super famous when she married Prince Harry, and the two later stepped away from being working royals and moved to the United States, isn’t even in the news for her upcoming Netflix show. With Love, Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s fifth project with Netflix, was set to premiere in January but was postponed because of the wildfires. It is now set to be released on March 4, 2025.

Instead, Markle is making news because of reports that have to do with her talent agency, WME. But what happened with Meghan Markle and WME? Did she get dropped by the agency? Here’s everything we know.
Did Meghan Markle Get Dropped by WME?

The answer to the question is no, as the agency itself confirmed, saying, “WME continues to represent Meghan and Archewell.” Page Six had first reported that, according to sources, Markle had been dropped because she was “too demanding” and “difficult to work with.” The outlet also reported that the Duchess of Sussex had not held any meetings with the agency’s powerbroker Ari Emanuel since January last year. They did, however, report she was in regular contact with her own agents.
Page Six’s reporting also added that Markle had an outburst in January 2024 and demanded a meeting, for which she “expected decks and plans.” This led to an argument after which “Ari was done with her,” the insider told the outlet.
Markle has been with the agency since April 2023, and her agents were reported to be Brad Slater, who reps Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and Jill Smoller, who represents tennis icon Serena Williams, a friend of Markle’s.
Rumors about Markle being difficult to work with have swirling for years, with Buckingham Palace previously making an inquiry into bullying claims against Markle. The Palace never released the findings. Similarly, her former press secretary, Jason Knauf, spoke to 60 Minutes Australia and said he stood by allegations against Markle. Knauf reportedly wrote in a message to Prince William’s press secretary when he was still working with Markle, “I am very concerned that the duchess was able to bully two PAs out of the household in the past year. The treatment of X was totally unacceptable.”
Knauf moved from being employed by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to being a special adviser to the Prince and Princess of Wales and then chief executive of the Royal Foundation, the charitable arm of their official operations.
Markle has long denied the allegations, calling them a ‘calculated smear campaign based on misleading and harmful misinformation’. The Duchess has continued to focus on her new company, her new show, and helping those affected by the wildfires in Los Angeles. The Duke and Duchess even welcomed friends who had to evacuate from Los Angeles to their Montecito estate and released a statement committing to helping out fire victims with their charity Archewell Foundation.
