Jenna Bush Hager, who cohosts the NBC morning program Today with Jenna & Sheinelle, is marking a major career milestone.
On Wednesday, January 14, the TV personality, 44, told viewers that she is venturing into the world of scripted television by becoming an executive producer on a new NBC pilot titled Protection.
“Who knew I would ever do something like this, ladies and gentlemen?” Bush Hager said on Wednesday’s broadcast after cohost Sheinelle Jones announced that her colleague is “officially a Hollywood producer” and called her “a boss.”
“I’m so excited,” Bush Hager said.

The news was officially announced by NBC the day prior. According to Deadline, Protection is written by former Smash showrunner Josh Safran and centers on a U.S. Marshal.
“It’s about different levels of law enforcement, some based on Secret Service,” the daughter of former president George W. Bush explained on Today. “Y’all know I know about that, and it’s a mystery.”
The journalist went on to tease that the “twist” in the story is “so good,” adding that viewers will see what happens in the pilot episode.

In December, Jones was announced as Hoda Kotb’s replacement on the fourth hour of Today, and she began hosting duties alongside Bush Hager earlier this month.
