The William Floyd Board of Education consists of seven elected community members who continually work to ensure student achievement, develop a shared vision and goals for the district, support a healthy school-community culture, operate in a fiscally responsible way for residents, evaluate the superintendent to ensure continuous improvement and so much more. Additionally, new this year are non-voting student members, a new NYS initiative that aims to bring a student perspective to school boards, while helping develop leadership skills and civic engagement among today’s youth.
The William Floyd Board of Education includes April Coppola, president; Robert Taiani, vice president; and fellow trustees Angelo Cassarino, Jennifer Heitman, Lorraine Mentz, Kevin Meyer, and Luis J. Soto. Serving as student Board of Education members are seniors Nasyah Crosby, Muhammad Saad and Andrew Winter.
“I am grateful to our Board of Education for their tireless efforts each and every day throughout the school year,” said Kevin M. Coster, Superintendent of Schools, noting how their work ensures that the district has all that it needs to prepare students to be successful now and into the future. “It takes a high-functioning Board of Education to ensure strong schools and that is exactly what we have at William Floyd.”
Please join us in recognizing the William Floyd Board of Education for their efforts!
