U.S. Customs and Border Protection will be recruiting at Cal Poly’s annual Fall Career Fair on Wednesday, Oct. 22.
According to university spokesperson Matt Lazier, the agency will be there “solely for recruiting purposes.”
Under the Department of Homeland Security, Customs and Border Protection enforces border security, management and control. The agency was also present at the recent federal immigration enforcement raids in Los Angeles over the summer.
Widely known for Border Patrol, the agency also employs people in air and marine operations as well as other field office careers.
The agency is separate from U.S Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE.
The annual career fair hosted by Cal Poly Career Services includes over 150 employers from a variety of industries. Students can access the list of recruiters in MustangJobs via their portal.
The fair will take place from Oct. 22 to Oct. 23.
Lazier said Cal Poly’s Career Services does not exclude employers from coming to campus unless they do not comply with its policies.
According to the university’s Career Services Employer Recruiting Policies, services like the career fair are available to employers who do not discriminate against employees based on “national origin, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, age, disability, or any other basis prohibited by applicable law.”
Recently, Customs and Border Protection were scheduled to recruit at Cal Poly Pomona’s campus which then caused the postponement of their fall job fair due to criticism from students.
