The Troy school district has unveiled some of its proposals ahead of next week’s budget votes across the state.
One of the key items that will be on the ballot is a 1.75% tax levy increase. Officials say that is below the district’s tax cap. District officials say this would be the first tax levy increase in four years.
Superintendent John Carmello says the budget preserves all programs that have helped students and does not include layoffs. He says there are some positions the district is choosing not to replace, but that’s because someone either retired or left.
Voters will also help fill three seats on the Board of Education.
School budget vote day for districts is set for Tuesday, May 20.
