(Editor’s Note: Every year, the Punxsutawney Career Women’s Club recognizes five women for their professional contributions in the area. This is the fourth of a five-part series introducing this year’s honorees.)
PUNXSUTAWNEY — Thursday’s Career Woman, Kayla Travis, is the definition of a busy person, as she is a paramedic/nurse who works and lives in Punxsutawney.
Travis by day is a nurse at Punxsutawney Area Hospital and by night a paramedic for Jefferson County EMS.
“I grew up in Brockway and graduated from Brockway Area High School,” Travis said. “I got my EMT when I was 16, and I worked volunteer until I could actually get a job there when I turned 18.”
Travis went to Butler County Community College and got her nursing license.
