The Oklahoma Society for Culture Appreciation is bringing back its beloved cultural event, Tokyo, OK, for its 17th year, and this summer’s convention promises more than 300 hours of programming, special guests, and immersive fan experiences.
A Weekend of Rewind and Reflection
This year’s theme, “Rewind,” invites attendees to reflect on the personal impact of anime, manga, and Japanese pop culture.
From July 10 to 13, fans will gather at the Marriott Tulsa Southern Hills near 71st and Lewis for an expansive celebration of all things anime and beyond.
Star-Studded Guest Lineup
The guest list includes voice actors and actresses such as Elise Baughman, Cole Feuchter, Xanthe Huynh, Jessie James Grelle, Krystal Laporte, Barry Yandell, and Brian Mathis. Cosplay creators like Forged in Foam, ShoxCosplay, BCharlotteD, and CheekyCheetah will be featured alongside artists Amelie Belcher and AshhDraws.
Activities for Every Kind of Fan
Programming includes:
- Panels on industry careers and Japanese culture
- Cosplay, model building, and amateur art contests
- Anime music video competitions
- Tabletop and video game demos with Warguts E-Sports and Safe Room Games
- A curated shopping bazaar featuring local and national vendors
Partner organizations like Clary Sage College and the Philbrook Museum will offer educational programming throughout the weekend.
Giving Back Through Charity
The event kicks off with a charity ball on Thursday night, July 10, with all proceeds benefiting Bikers Against Child Abuse. Additional donation boxes, a silent auction, and a live charity auction on Sunday, July 13, will also support the nonprofit.
Who’s Behind the Convention?
The Oklahoma Society for Culture Appreciation (OS4CA), a nonprofit led by volunteers and fans, organizes the event. Their mission is to promote cultural understanding and the arts both within and beyond Oklahoma.
