THE POP CULTURE NEWS BULLETIN 222
The Pop Culture News Bulletin is a weekly roundup of the recent and trending news stories in the entertainment industry or stories that fall into the pop culture subcategory. Every Friday we feature stories that fit the content we frequently cover
In addition to the other Christmas movie news of 2026 (which includes a Hallmark x Disney collab, a Brandon x Great American Family partnership and sequels with GAF), Hallmark released the apparently rumored return to Biltmore. The sequel is untitled but will feature Holland Roden and Niall Matter together in a production that will film at the historic estate. This follows in the footsteps of 2023’s A Biltmore Christmas which featured Bethany Joy Lenz and Kristoffer Polaha. Production will begin early in 2026 (to air at the end of the year) and will also feature Jonathan Frakes reprising from A Biltmore Christmas. Penning the script is Marcy Holland.
If you like the Alaska set drama The Last Frontier (about marshals), Apple TV opted not to give it another season cancelling the show after only one season. According to reports, this will follow a career woman who struggles now to see her siblings all find “the one” and marry. As a challenge for herself, she decides to go on twelve dates that lead up to Christmas.
FILM REVIEW | ‘COVER UP’: INTERESTING DASH OF CHRISTMAS NOIR
In seasonal news that broke last week (and I neglected to mention, Lucy Hale and Ian Harding will reunite (they co-starred in Pretty Little Liars) for a Christmas film currently titled The Twelve Dates of Christmas.
I did neglect to mention that Paramount+ is opting to not renew NCIS: Tony and Ziva. An offshoot of the original NCIS (which still airs on CBS); this spy drama followed original cast member Michael Weatherly who returns to the role of Tony DiNozzo. The concept follows him and his partner (professionally and personally, off and one) Ziva David whom Cote de Pablo returns to play (she first appeared in season three of NCIS) as they must go on the run when a threat to Tony’s company threatens not just them but their daughter. The show leaves them in a happy place which is nice for them and fans.
