OROVILLE, Calif. – The Butte County Office of Education is set to host its 22nd annual Special Education School Site Track and Field Meet at Harrison Stadium in Oroville on Friday, May 2nd.
Around 778 students with special needs, from kindergarten to age 22, will be participating in the event, which is scheduled to run from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The track meet is a collaborative event, involving Butte County Adapted Physical Education Specialists, California State University, Chico, and Kiwanis of Oroville.
“This event provides a lot of opportunities for students, parents, volunteers and community members to see the abilities and potential of all participants and to look beyond disability,” said Cami Anderson, volunteer coordinator and event management member.
The event is free for all participants, made possible by donations from BCOE, Kiwanis of Oroville, Oroville Unified High School District, and Special Olympics Butte County.
For more details or to volunteer, you can contact Cami Anderson at 530-514-4482 or reach out by sending an email to canderso@bcoe.org.
