Six career fairs will allow UNG students to explore opportunities at events in Gainesville and Dahlonega.

The University of North Georgia’s (UNG) Career Services is hosting six career fairs at both UNG’s Dahlonega and Gainesville campuses.

“There is a career fair for all UNG students to attend,” Diane Farrell, director of Career Services, said. “Students on of any year in school and on any campus, including Blue Ridge, Oconee or Cumming, are welcome to attend our Dahlonega and Gainesville career fairs. You never know who you might meet that can tell you about a career or a company you haven’t considered before.”

Upcoming Fairs will take place on:

  • Sept. 5, noon to 3 p.m.: Fall All-Majors Career Fair, Dahlonega Campus, Convocation Center.
  • Sept. 5, 5-7:30 p.m.: Accounting and Information Systems Career Fair, Gainesville Campus, Hugh Mills Physical Education Center (held by Beta Alpha Psi and the Department of Accounting and Law).
  • Sept. 18, 1-4 p.m.: Fall 2024 Nursing Career Fair, Dahlonega Campus, Health and Natural Sciences Room 122.
  • Sept. 25, 3-6 p.m.: Fall 2024 All Majors Career Fair, Gainesville Campus, Hugh Mills Physical Education Center.
  • Oct. 8, 3-6 p.m.: Cyber Career Fair (invite only through Institute for Cyber Operations), Dahlonega Campus, Cottrell Ballroom.
  • Oct. 9, noon to 1 p.m.: Career Diversity Mixer co-sponsored by Multicultural Student Affairs and Career Services, a more casual event for employers and students to talk in the Cleveland Ballroom

Career Services has most companies attending available on Handshake for students, but also recommends students prepare in other ways with some of their resources available.

There is a career fair for all UNG students to attend. Students on of any year in school and on any campus, including Blue Ridge, Oconee or Cumming, are welcome to attend our Dahlonega and Gainesville career fairs.

Diane Farrell

director of Career Services

“Juniors and seniors should develop a LinkedIn profile before attending career fairs. They can include the link on their resumes, which they should bring to the fairs,” Farrell said.

There is also a new resource available, Iris Air, at the Dahlonega Campus. Iris Air is a photo booth in the Career Services Office in the Stewart Center where students can take professional headshots for their LinkedIn profile or other professional purposes.

Students can also attend virtual career chats with Career Services, like “Find Your Why” for students who do not yet have a clear career direction, or a resume writing chat. Nigel’s Career Closet, another resource available to students, is back this semester and allows students to obtain free professional or business casual clothing to wear to the fairs or interviews. Clothing closets are available at the Dahlonega Campus in the Stewart Center, Suite 333, and at the Gainesville Campus in the Student Center.

At the University of North Georgia, we deeply value and uphold the cherished right of every American to freely express themselves. It is a hallmark of our history, our tradition, and permeates our culture. As a distinguished Senior Military College, with a legacy spanning over 150 years, we take great pride in our role of cultivating leaders who tirelessly defend these fundamental freedoms for all citizens.  The legacy of our graduates in this regard is second to none.

As campus leaders, our primary responsibility is to cultivate an academic environment that ensures this exchange of ideas and the safety of our community. Across all five campuses, we are committed to fostering a welcoming atmosphere where individuals feel empowered to freely express themselves and engage in exploration and learning. However, it is essential that these rights are exercised in a manner that upholds our academic mission, preserves the safety of all, and is in accordance with our institutional policies, without unlawful behavior. This means breaking the law, harassment, intimidation, trespassing, violence, and other criminal acts will not be tolerated at the University of North Georgia.

Together, let’s uphold the principles of respect, understanding, and civility as we equip our students to walk toward their purpose.

Bold Forward!
