SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – Lieutenant Forster highlighted the Career Cadet Program at the Sioux Falls Police briefing on Thursday.
The Program was started in partnership with Southeast Technical College, the Sioux Falls Development Foundation, and the City of Sioux Falls in 2023.
Through the program, cadets join the City of Sioux Falls in a part-time civilian role with the Sioux Falls Police Department and can also receive a scholarship to cover 12 credit hours at Southeast Technical College.
They will be assigned a mentor at the police department and work with different areas and learn about the many career possibilities with SFPD and the City of Sioux Falls.
Career cadets will also receive a laptop from the Sioux Falls Development Foundation, and could even get childcare assistance from the Hope Coalition or Healthcare assistance from Falls Community Health, depending on financial eligibility.
The application process is open now and will close on June 23.
