This year’s Boots and Bling event for the Galveston Police Department‘s Blue Santa program on Nov. 16 was dazzling.
Elks Lodge #126 hosted the fund-raising vent. Lighthouse Charity provided delicious food. The annual event has the support of local businesses and Galveston residents.
Every year, the Galveston Police Department raises money to give hope, love and a bit of Santa’s magic to some of the underprivileged children on the island.
Families sign up for assistance and each request is reviewed to validate the needs are genuine. Families are only allowed to participate in one of the island’s many outreaches of charity, enabling more children to enjoy Christmas.
This is a volunteer effort to gather toys delivered by Blue Santa.
Sgt. Jovan Harris of the Galveston Police Department has led this grand undertaking for years.
