Rockingham Choral Society to Perform ‘A Rose in Winter’

EXETER — The Rockingham Choral will perform their winter concert “A Rose in Winter” on Saturday, Dec. 7 at Exeter High School, One Blue Hawk Drive, and Sunday, Dec. 8 at Christ Church, 43 Pine St., in Exeter, N.H. Both performances will take place at 3 p.m.
The program for “A Rose in Winter” features Gwyneth Walker’s “The Rose, the Briar, and the Bicycle”; Michael John Trotta’s “The First Noel: There is no Rose” and “O Christmas Tree”; Craig Hella Johnson’s arrangement of “Lo how a rose/The Rose”; Ola Gjielo’s “The Rose”; William Billings’ “I am the Rose of Sharon”; as well as works by Elizabeth Poston, Karl Nygard, Susan La Barr, Randal Stroope and more.
Each piece will be accompanied by the choir’s collaborative pianist Jeannie Goodwin. The Walker selection will also be accompanied by oboist Jill Hoffmann. In addition to the full force of the Choral Society, there will be featured solos and small groups drawn from the membership.

Garrison Players Arts Center to hold auditions for ‘The Ghost Train’
ROLLINSFORD — Garrison Players Arts Center is holding auditions for The Ghost Train on Saturday, Nov. 16, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 17, from 6:30–8:30 p.m. at Garrison Players Arts Center, Corner of Roberts Road and Portland Ave. (Route 4), Rollinsford. Bye Bye Birdie at the Village Players in Wolfeboro

WOLFEBORO — Get ready to rock and roll back to 1958! Teen heart-throb Conrad Birdie is about to be drafted into the army, but before he leaves, he’s set to give one lucky fan one last kiss and a memorable send-off. The classic musical “Bye Bye Birdie” is a high-energy show set in the golden age of bobby socks and rock and roll, full of catchy tunes, lively dance numbers, and a whole lot of fun!
Performances are Friday, Nov. 8 and Saturday, Nov. 9 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 10 at 2 p.m. at the Village Players Theater on Glendon Street in downtown Wolfeboro.
