The Lundy-Fetterman School of Business hosted its annual Career Prep Week recently, offering a series of events designed to help students sharpen their professional skills and prepare for internships and careers.

“Career Prep Week gives students the tools and confidence to turn opportunities into success,” said Jill Williamson, director of career development, highlighting the importance of connecting students with practical skills, relevant experiences and professional networks.

The week began with an invitation to visit the Campus Career Closet, where students selected professional attire to use for interviews, internships, and career fairs. Students also had the opportunity for free professional headshots as part of the week.

On the third day, students gathered for the Food for Thought Internship panel, where upperclassmen gave advice on making most of internship opportunities. Panelists encouraged students to take advantage of resources on campus and network to get their foot in the door. They also stressed the importance of initiative and hard work, asking questions and making connections, throughout your internship.

The highlight of the week was the Etiquette Dinner, where 55 students joined 12 alumni and business professionals who served as table hosts. Together, they practiced networking, learned dining etiquette, and gained valuable tips for making a strong impression in professional settings.

“Career Week gave me the opportunity to connect with inspiring employers, sharpen my networking skills, and land an internship that aligns perfectly with my goals,” said Emily Patterson, a sophomore who received an internship offer within a week of the Etiquette Dinner, after making a connection and following up.
