Community Workforce Solutions has partnered with Onslow County Schools Exceptional Children Services to put on a High School Transitions Resource Fair on Tuesday.

The event is designed to empower and prepare students with disabilities for successful futures beyond graduation, according to Jacqueline Tew, Onslow County internship coordinator.

The resource fair will take place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Jacksonville High School cafeteria, at 1021 Henderson Drive.

The event will serve as a one-stop shop for high school students with disabilities across Onslow County to explore resources, services and hands-on learning opportunities that support their journeys into adulthood, she said.

Some of the services available include onsite pre-employment transition services, paid internship opportunities and a community resource showcase.

Students will have the chance to connect with local organizations offering free or low-cost services, from transportation and health care, to education, housing and financial literacy.

The resource fair is open to students, families, educators and support staff who are invested in ensuring a smooth and informed transition from high school into independent adult life.

“Our goal is to equip students with the tools and connections they need to feel confident about their next steps,” Tew said.

“Whether it’s entering the workforce, continuing education, or developing life skills, this fair brings together the community to support every path.”
