SALT LAKE CITY — Weber State University President Brad Mortensen announced in an email to the school’s student body on Thursday that he was stepping down from his position to take on a position as president of Utah State University.
“Serving the Weber State family has been one of the greatest honors of my life, and it’s with deep gratitude that I share this update. While I was not looking to leave Weber State, I was presented with an opportunity to serve the state in a new way and continue advocating for higher education across Utah,” he said.
Mortensen said he would be taking on his new position on Nov. 7 after working at Weber State as its president for nearly seven years.
“While I’ll be taking on a new role, my admiration, support, and advocacy for Weber State will never change,” Mortensen said. “Thank you for everything you do and will continue to do for our students, our community, and for one another.”
