MISSOULA, Mont. — The Confederated Salish & Kootenai Tribes will host the Beartracks Celebration Powwow on Indigenous Peoples Day. This cultural event will take place on Monday, October 14 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Caras Park in downtown Missoula.
The third annual Beartracks Celebration Powwow is a free event open to the public, designed to celebrate and honor Indigenous culture and community. The event will commence with a Grand Entry at 1:00 p.m., featuring traditional dancers adorned in regalia.
Event organizer Martin Charlo said, “This powwow is a celebration of resilience, culture, and community.” He encourages everyone to join in honoring the Indigenous community and its rich traditions.
Participants can enjoy a variety of dance categories and performances by talented dancers from the region. Drum groups will also perform, and dancers of all ages are invited to participate in exhibitions or dance contests.
The powwow will also include a vendor market hosted by Indigenous Made Montana, which will offer a range of Indigenous arts, crafts, and items. The market provides a platform for local artisans to share their work and engage with the community.
“We are excited to welcome everyone to join us in this celebration of culture and community,” Charlo added. He emphasized that Indigenous Peoples Day is a time to reflect on shared history and celebrate resilience.
