Tom Hosler has served in his role as superintendent since 2007, the district said.
PERRYSBURG, Ohio — Perrysburg Schools Superintendent Tom Hosler will be leaving the district to serve in a new educational role, according to an email from the district Monday.
The email stated that Hosler was selected by the Ohio School Boards Association (OSBA) Board of Trustees to serve as the board’s new Chief Executive Officer and leave Perrysburg Schools.
Hosler has served as the district’s superintendent since 2007. The Perrysburg Board of Education will meet in executive session on Wednesday to begin discussions about the leadership transition, the district said in the email.
The email did not include information about a tentative last day for Hosler in his current position, nor did it say when he is expected to assume his role on the OSBA.
The district and board thanked Hosler for his work at Perrysburg Schools, and listed some of his accomplishments during his 18-year tenure, including a 25% student enrollment increase, the passage of nine levies, and the opening of Hull Prairie Intermediate School, among other things.
“Tom has guided Perrysburg Schools through an era of unprecedented growth and achievement. His vision, energy, and deep commitment to students have left an enduring legacy that will benefit this community for generations to come,” said Board of Education President Susan Rowland Miller in the email. “While we will miss his leadership here, we are proud to see him take on this important role serving Ohio’s public schools statewide.”
Hosler said in the email that he would miss his work at Perrysburg, but looked forward to the new opportunity.
“Serving as Superintendent of Perrysburg Schools has been the privilege of my career. Together, we’ve navigated growth, expanded opportunities for all students, and built a reputation for excellence that is recognized across Ohio. While it is bittersweet to leave, I look forward to supporting public education across the state through OSBA — and I will always carry Perrysburg with me.”
