JACKSONVILLE – Redshirt junior David Perez has been awarded his first career ASUN Player of the Week honor for his outstanding performance in the River City Rumble against Jacksonville, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
Perez recorded two goals for a brace against JU with both scores being within the first five minutes of the start for each half. Through two conference matches, Perez now leads the league in goals scored with three total, while no other player has more than one in ASUN play.
“David [Perez] has hit the ground running for UNF and it was only a matter of time before he found the connection with his teammates,” said head coach Jamie Davies. “He shows this level in training every day, so we are happy for him that he is seeing the outcome match the process.”
The Ospreys bring home its first ASUN Player of the Week honor under first-year head coach Jamie Davies. He becomes the 20th player in the program to take home the weekly conference award after etching his name in River City Rumble history on Saturday.
Perez returns to action in ASUN competition once again on the road against Florida Gulf Coast on Saturday, Oct. 5.
