SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, Pa. — Penn State Schuylkill welcomed 66 regional employers to campus for its annual fall Career Fair, offering students a valuable opportunity to build connections, explore career paths, and gain insight into employment opportunities across Schuylkill County and beyond.
The event, held in the campus gymnasium, brought together a diverse range of organizations — from local nonprofits and healthcare providers to manufacturing companies and government agencies — creating a dynamic networking environment for students and alumni.
“The Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce is honored to participate in this event, representing our 800 members and engaging with students about their future,” said Cierra Abrachinsky, member development and events director, and Tony Merchlinsky, member relations and marketing director, at the Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce. “We remain deeply committed to supporting the next generation of leaders and ensuring that students recognize the wealth of opportunity that exists right here in Schuylkill County.”
For many students, the Career Fair provided not only an introduction to potential employers but also a deeper understanding of career pathways in their chosen fields. First-year student Hannah Atkinson said, “I was able to find information about internships and part-time jobs, but I also learned about future career roles I could pursue after graduation. It really helped me see the bigger picture of where my degree can take me.”
Participating employers also valued the opportunity to meet students face-to-face and share their organizations’ missions and opportunities. Katie Malone, regional program supervisor at PA Inclusive, said, “On behalf of PA Inclusive, we are proud to be here at the career fair to create opportunities for students and for faculty and staff to learn about different ways we support the community.”
The event was organized by Rosalie Yeager, administrative support assistant at Penn State Schuylkill, who emphasized the collaborative effort behind its success.
“It’s incredibly satisfying to see everything come together for our students and alumni,” Yeager said. “I’m so grateful to the employers who take the time to connect with our Penn Staters and to the staff who help make this event possible.”
Through events like the Career Fair, Penn State Schuylkill continues to strengthen relationships between the campus and local employers, fostering real-world experiences that help students prepare for successful careers after graduation.
