A North Alabama special education teacher will not be returning to the classroom amid controversy surrounding her past.
Brandy Taylor has been teaching at Hampton Cove Middle School since 2020 until August 2025. Taylor has now resigned from her position, according to a report from WAFF.
Taylor has been on leave since news of her 2017 domestic violence charge began to circulate through social media.
Court records show that she allegedly hit, punched and bit a child before beating him with a belt. She was teaching in Albertville at the time, but the incident did not happen at school.
She spent a month in jail for a third-degree domestic violence assault.
She passed the Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE) background check to work at Hampton Cove Middle School in 2020. The school system conducted an internal personnel review. Representatives have not released the findings of the investigation.
