Celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month at the Bedford Library! This month recognizes and celebrates the diverse stories, rich history, and achievements of our Hispanic community.
Mark your calendars and make sure to attend one of these upcoming events at the Bedford Public Library (2424 Forest Ridge Dr.):
- Los Mariachi Locos (Saturday, September 13 from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.): Kick off Hispanic Heritage Month with the lively sounds of Los Mariachi Locos. Enjoy a fun-filled performance of traditional mariachi music and culture.
- “Selena” (Monday, September 15 from 5:30 to 7:45 p.m.): Join us for a special screening of “Selena” (1997, PG), the beloved biopic honoring the life and legacy of Tejano music icon Selena Quintanilla. Popcorn will be served.
- The Art of Mexican Flower Making (Wednesday, September 17 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.): Explore the colorful tradition of Mexican flower making and learn why these flowers are an important part of the Mexican heritage. First come, first served.
- Encanto Sing-Along (Thursday, September 25 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.): Welcome to the Family Madrigal in the Storytime Theater! Get ready to dance and sing-along to “Encanto” (2021, PG).
- Alma y Corazón Texas Ballet Folklórico (Saturday, September 27 from 2 to 3 p.m.): Enjoy colorful costumes, lively music, and exciting performances that highlight the heart and soul of folklórico.
- Latin Fusion Music with Russ Hewitt (Wednesday, October 1 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.): Spanish guitarist Russ Hewitt will take you on a musical journey that blends Latin, Spanish, flamenco, Cuban, Brazilian, and world music styles. Known for his fast, rhythmic guitar work and vibrant original compositions, Russ delivers a powerful performance that honors the richness and diversity of Hispanic culture.
