KALAMAZOO, Mich. — A new mural is turning heads near Western Michigan University’s campus.
Located at the intersection of Howard Street and Michigan Avenue at the Campus Pointe mall, the mural was painted by students and designed by former student Brad Zenz, B.F.A.’09, according to an article on the university’s website.
The mural includes images of various WMU athletes, along with cheering fans, along with the WMU seal, a Gathering Tree statue, and a vintage logo.
Zenz is an alumnus of the Gwen Frostic School of Art, and is serving as a guest artist in a summer murals course, said WMU in an article.
Students painting the mural are part of a hands-on, immersive course designed to give students applicable skills and insights into mural making, taught by Heidi Weiss, B.F.A.’04, M.F.A.’09, instructor of art.
