The Columbia Public Library will host a SAVE-A-LIFE: Naloxone education and distribution event on Thursday, Oct. 23, from noon to 1 p.m.
SAVE-A-LIFE is a series of free, public monthly events that offer education on how people can help prevent overdose deaths from painkillers like fentanyl through the use of naloxone nasal spray, also known as Narcan.
Following the event, Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services staff will provide information and brief training to people who are unable to attend the formal presentation, according to a news release from the Health Department.
Both formal and informal training will include how to recognize the signs of an opioid overdose and how to use and access naloxone.
No registration is necessary. A personal supply of naloxone will be available to all people who attend, according to the news release.
