Morris College’s Health Science Students and Health Science Club invite the community to a Healthy Lifestyle and Diabetes Awareness Health Fair on Friday, Nov. 14, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Garrick-Boykin Human Development Center on the Morris College campus.
This free community event is part of the college’s ongoing commitment to raising public health awareness and promoting healthy living among students and residents of the greater Sumter area.
The health fair will feature a variety of free services, including:
– Flu shots
– Rapid HIV testing
– Sickle cell testing
Participants will also have access to wellness resources, fitness sessions and information from local and regional partners dedicated to improving community health outcomes.
“Our goal is to make health education and prevention accessible for everyone,” said Dr. Crystal Piper, Health Science faculty member and advisor to the Health Science Club. “By connecting our students with health care providers and organizations, we empower them to be advocates for wellness in their families and communities.”
This year’s fair is presented in partnership with organizations such as: Absolute Total Care, Prisma Health, Tandem Health, South Carolina State University Research and Extension, Sumter County Recreation and Parks, Roads of Independence, South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control, Otogenetics Corporation, BHDD South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs, Zumba Strong with Coach Rush and the American Heart Association.
