MID-MICHIGAN (WJRT) – Some students in Mid-Michigan get to sleep in a little later with a delayed start to Monday’s classes.
More than a dozen school districts in Gratiot and Isabella counties decided to push back the start of classes by two or three hours after a weekend of off and on snowfall left roads slippery.
Dozens of other school districts across Mid-Michigan closed for Monday.
Temperatures warmed to around the freezing mark of 32 degrees on Sunday, but light snow showers blanketed parts of Mid-Michigan with a light dusting. That was enough to leave rural roadways slippery.
Temperatures likely will continue falling through the early part of this week. Additional scattered lake effect snow showers off Lake Michigan are possible Monday with a persistent west wind as temperatures tumble.
The wind chill on Tuesday morning could fall to around 0 degrees, which could stir up more lake effect snow showers. Light snow is possible around Mid-Michigan on Thursday before the possibility of a more significant winter storm next weekend.
