UNDATED (WKRC) – McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski offered Americans career that may “hurt your feelings”
Kempczinski posted a video to his official Instagram account last Wednesday, during which he offered Americans advice on their careers.
“Sorry if this advice is a little blunt. What’s some harsh feedback you’ve been given that turned out to be helpful for your career?” the caption on the video titled “Tough Love with the McDonald’s CEO” reads.
Kempczinski told his nearly 50,000 followers that it’s critical for Americans to take ownership of their professional journeys and “make things happen for yourself.” He said waiting for doors to open is a mistake.
“The advice I would give is: remember, nobody cares about your career as much as you do. So this idea that there’s somebody out there who’s looking out for you, who’s going to make sure that you get that opportunity, who puts you in the right thing—great if it happens, but at the end of the day, nobody cares more about your career than you do,” Kempczinski said in the video.
The post received thousands of likes from social media users, with several leaving their thoughts in the comment section.
“That’s some McWisdom right there,” one user wrote.
“Great tip—it’s so important to be bold and go after those dreams!” another Instagram user added.
“Oh, that’s why Big Macs are around $6 now. We’re paying for career counseling from Chris,” another chimed in.
Kempczinski was born in Boston but later moved to Cincinnati, where he attended Indian Hill High School. He became McDonald’s CEO in 2019 after joining the company in 2015. According to FOX Business, he previously worked for major companies including Kraft Foods and PepsiCo.
