
MANITOWOC – Manitowoc Public School District will host a community informational meeting on the district’s facilities needs and planning, led by interim Superintendent Lee Thennes.
The Community Information Session of Facilities Planning will take place at 6 p.m. Oct. 23 in the Washington Middle School auditorium.
According to a news release from MPSD, Thennes will talk about where the district has been, where it is now and where it is headed in relation to creating a master facilities plan that spans the next 50 years.

The release also states Thennes is meeting with MPSD staff at every school throughout October.
The school district is still grappling with how to handle more than $47.5 million in urgent repairs needed in its 10 educational buildings. A facilities audit identified those urgent repairs and other repairs and upgrades that would be needed in the next 10 years are estimated to cost $163.3 million.

Thennes was appointed by the school board in September to take over after James Feil stepped down as superintendent without warning in August.
