LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A free event in Louisville helped young people and teenagers start to think about their future after high school.
The Louisville Free Public Library hosted its second annual College and Career for teens 14 to 19 years old. Attendees could meet with college representatives, perspective employers, business owners and hear from speakers.
The conference was a way for teens to learn career paths and learn about business start-ups, financial aid and event content creation.
It was also a way to learn more about jobs and what it takes to succeed.
“I really like the breakout sessions where it was just how to get into film, learning how complicated that is and all your options and the pathways into that,” said Tyra Willis and Mya Curtis. “It is so difficult.”
There were college-themed prizes given out to students including headphones, chargers and ramen noodles.
“The Library’s annual College and Career Fair offers an exciting opportunity for youth in our city to map out their future, and gather the resources they need to achieve their college and career goals,” Mayor Craig Greenberg said in a news release. “Providing free access to information and innovative programming is central to the work our library system does every day.”
