A local Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) captain is retiring from the agency after more than three decades on the job.
TWRA spokesperson Mime Barnes says Captain Jeff Bishop is retiring following a 34-year career.
Captain Bishop came to the Tennessee Valley in July of 2003 when he was transferred to Polk County.
Over the years, he would rise through the ranks, receiving promotions to sergeant and lieutenant in 2012.
He was promoted to captain in 2018.
Bishop was also honored as Officer of the Year and Hunter Education Officer of the Year awards during his career.
Barnes said Bishop is looking forward to family time, traveling, and hunting during retirement.
“TWRA friendships mean a great deal to me,” Captain Bishop said. “The agency truly has a family atmosphere with a big commonality between field employees; that is, a love for wildlife and the outdoors.”
Local 3 congratulates Captain Bishop on his retirement!
