(WFSB) – The president of Central Connecticut State University released a letter regarding an incident at her private home on Friday evening.
President Zulma Toro began the letter by saying she was okay and was not physically hurt.
According to the memo, Toro received an envelope addressed to her that had no return address. When she opened the letter, she said an unknown substance came out.
Toro called authorities immediately and was taken care of by first responders.
She has been the university’s president since 2017 and was the first female president. She was also the first Hispanic chief executive.
Toro said her resolve to be a leader was not weakened by this “cruel incident” and she thanked everyone who helped her handle the situation.
State police are working to find out who was responsible for this.
