The Lawrence County Career Connections Expo proved to be a tremendous success, offering students an energetic, hands-on introduction to a wide range of career pathways.
Held earlier this month in the Lawrence County High School gymnasium, the expo welcomed all 10th and 12th-grade students across the county to participate in this unique and immersive career exploration event.
Organized by Lawrence County Career Coaches Kaci Quails and Tabitha Pace, the expo brought together a diverse group of businesses and industry professionals dedicated to helping students envision their future careers.
Exhibitors provided both interactive demonstrations and informative discussions, giving students a valuable look at real-world job skills and workplace expectations.
Students explored welding through a simulator provided by Hubbard & Drake, piloted an aircraft using the U.S. Air Force flight simulator, and gained insight into drone technology and land-surveying equipment thanks to Pugh, Wright, McAnally. Sonoco offered students the chance to assemble wooden reels using hand tools, while GE Appliances introduced them to the world of industrial automation through a Programmable Logic Control (PLC) trainer, showcasing the software and systems that power modern machinery. Over 40 businesses, industries, and colleges were in attendance.
According to Career Coach Pace, the Lawrence County School System extends its sincere appreciation to all participating businesses and industries for their support and involvement. Special thanks are also due to Mrs. Jill Woods’ Event Planning class and the Lawrence County Career Technical Center students and staff for their outstanding hospitality and hard work in making the event a success.
Pace said that Lawrence County schools remain committed to preparing the county’s future workforce by providing meaningful, high-quality career exploration and training opportunities for every student.
