The Kiski School outside of Saltsburg and its headmaster now face a civil rights lawsuit in federal court.
The suit was filed by a former security director of the facility Joseph Ross and his wife, Carla, who also worked at the school after the two moved to on-campus housing in 2004. The lawsuit alleges that the school’s leader, Mark Ott, terminated the employment of Joseph and two other black employees and demoted Carla after Ott was sworn in on July 1st of last year. The couple was also evicted from their on-campus home this year, and claimed that the school forced her to resign, which she did on December 1st. The lawsuit also claims Ott violated a fair housing law that bars landlords and property managers from refusing or providing housing based on discriminatory practices.
The two are demanding a jury trial and are also seeking back and front pay, lost benefits and compensatory damages. A representative with the Kiski School declined to comment.
