KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) — The Killeen ISD Board of Trustees named Deputy Superintendent Dr. Terri Osborne as acting superintendent on Saturday to help lead the district at the start of the school year, according to district officials.
“Making a decision like this does not come lightly but there are personal things in life that happen that change on a dime,” former superintendent Dr. Jo Ann Fey said. “And I’m making a decision to honor my family and be with them in the San Antonio area at this time.”
KISD officials said the board expects to appoint a longer-term interim superintendent within 30 days to lead the district through the full superintendent search process.
“The board is confident that Dr. Osborne can guide the district during this transition while maintaining a firm focus on academic growth and operational stability. She has demonstrated an attention to detail and a data-driven approach to problem solving during her tenure with KISD,” Board President Brett Williams said.
Osborne said she is excited and looking forward to ensuring a successful start to the school year.
“Our focus remains on what matters most — student learning, family trust, and creating a positive environment where everyone feels supported,” Osborne said. “Killeen ISD is filled with bright minds, dedicated educators, and deep community pride. I’m grateful to be part of this chapter and will work each day to earn and build upon that trust.”
The board said it will soon begin the process of selecting a permanent superintendent and will include opportunities for community feedback.
“I wish Dr. Osborne the best of luck,” Dr. Fey said. “You have a great team. You have a great community. And I look forward to seeing the great things that you do.”
