BOWLING GREEN, KY.- According to many Kentucky educators, uniting communities through education and creating a system where everyone can thrive is the top priority for the state’s education system. Recently, dozens of city and state leaders gathered at Dishman McGinnis Elementary School for a town hall meeting to discuss the future of assessment and accountability on both the federal and local levels. The presentation was offered in both English and Spanish, highlighting a proposal aimed at fostering vibrant learning environments and community collaboration.
The goal is to ensure schools across Kentucky continue to grow and meet the needs of their students. Kentucky Education Commissioner Robb Fletcher emphasized the importance of identifying areas of growth in districts and not just focusing on perfect scores. “They’re telling the story that the community wants to hear, and showing how they can grow together,” Fletcher shared. By building up every student and preparing them for success, the education system can positively impact not only the students but the communities they live in as well. This collaborative approach is designed to strengthen both individuals and their local environments.
