Kelly Clarkson appeared on Kylie Kelce’s podcast, and the two had a candid conversation that covered topics of motherhood, singing competitions, and football fandoms. But fans of the original American Idol will want to hear her thoughts on recent career news.
On January 22, Kelly sat down to interview Keke Palmer on The Kelly Clarkson Show and shared that she’d started her own label, saying, “It’s my first time in my career and I just now started my own label and I’m putting out my own stuff. I’ve had some good teams, like, to work with, but there is nothing like being that 10-year-old again and being excited and nobody saying ‘Oh, you should do this’ and ‘You should do this.'”
On the March 27 episode of Not Gonna Lie with Kylie Kelce, Kylie brought up this career development. Kylie said, “You broke the news on your talk show earlier this year that you decided to start your own music label.” Kelly jumped in to say, “Yes, but let’s clear the air, okay, because I didn’t know how big that was going to blow up, because people were like, ‘Hey, artists are wanting to be signed and people are wanting to work at it.'”
Kelly explained, “I just had to create something because I’m like releasing my stuff and it was like you have to release it through some kind of vessel. So I’m not taking artists, and I’m really lucky to be clearing the air right now. Because it’s not that I don’t want to. I know a lot of amazing artists. My cup runneth over. I’m a single mom with two kids and like a lot going on.”
Kelly continued to explain, “It is cool at 42 to completely run the ship. It’s kind of cool to have my own label for my own stuff. Like we just shot a video in the little town that I live in in Montana, which is where I wrote the song. It’s a really cool thing. It was just me, my band, and some really cool people I’ve known for decades.”
