Abilene barber Dennis Kerbs will retire after 56 years
Long time Abilene business, Town and Country Barber Shop, is closing at the end of January due to the retirement of the owner, Dennis Kerbs.
After 56 years as a barber, he’s decided to have more freedom to do what he wants and when he wants, which will include visiting his daughter and her family out of state more often.
Those special grandchildren are a definite draw to retire.
Dennis has served as the only male barber for a number of years in Abilene.
Years ago Abilene had the services of many male barbers to choose from but now there will be none.
Dennis is thankful to the many loyal clients he has served. Some have retired and moved away from Abilene, but continue to come back for their haircuts on a regular basis.
Others started getting haircuts at nine months of age and have remained in Abilene into adulthood and never had a haircut other than by Dennis.
He has developed many friendships throughout his business.
Those relationships that were built through regular visits and the many conversations will be treasured always.
