About the Purdue author
Marisa Exter is an associate professor of learning design and technology. Her research aims to provide recommendations to improve or enhance university-level computing, engineering, engineering technology and instructional design programs through studying experienced professionals’ beliefs about the importance of various competencies (skills, knowledge and dispositions) and through promoting and studying alternative teaching and learning approaches, such as competency-based education, interdisciplinary education and studio model instruction. Exter is a board member for the International Board of Standards for Training, Performance and Instruction and co-coordinator of the Association for Educational Communications and Technology Summer Research Symposium.
