Idaho Education News has hired Kaeden Lincoln to report on education news this summer.
Lincoln is a Boise Bench native and Boise State University student, who will begin his junior year in the fall. He is pursuing a degree in Media Communications with an emphasis in journalism.
He previously worked for the Arbiter, Boise State’s biweekly student newspaper, and the Sentinel, North Idaho College’s online student news publication and semesterly magazine. He covered campus news, public safety and a variety of other topics.
A Boise School District alumnus, Lincoln worked for the Boise district after graduating from Borah High School. He has worked in the district’s facilities and operations department as a laborer and in classrooms as a tutor for students in the Advancement Via Individual Determination program.
From a young age, Lincoln was exposed to education discourse from his parents, who have both worked for the Boise School District. Lincoln’s mother has been an educator in Boise for more than two decades.
“We’re looking forward to working with Kaeden because he’s excited about gaining experience and learning more about reporting,” said managing editor Jennifer Swindell.
Lincoln will cover a variety of topics to keep readers informed and engaged, highlighting effective practices and individual accomplishments, while learning the ropes of professional journalism outside the walls of a college or university.
Idaho Education News is a nonprofit, digital news organization. EdNews is a public awareness service where parents, patrons, educators and lawmakers can find accurate, critical information on issues that affect Idaho’s children and their futures.
