CHECOTAH, Okla. — The Honey Springs Battlefield near Checotah will be holding its biennial Education Day and Battle of Honey Springs Reenactment this weekend.
On Nov. 7, the battlefield will be hosting an Education Day. The event is free for the public and will allow attendees to view history demonstrations and interact with stations educating about the Civil War in Indian Territory.
On Nov. 8 and Nov. 9, the battlefield will be holding its Battle of Honey Springs Reenactment weekend.
The 1863 Battle of Honey Springs was the largest Civil War battle held on Indian Territory. Living history stations discussing the battle will be opened at 10:00 a.m. with the battle reenactment beginning at 1:00 p.m.
Tickets are $10 for those aged 12 and older. Children under 12 can enter for free.
