LINVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — The Grandfather Mountain Highland Games return Thursday, July 10, through Sunday, July 13.
“This year’s games are a great reason for folks to travel to the North Carolina High Country,” said Stephen Quillin, president of the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games.

The celebration this year marks the 69th anniversary of the Scottish and Celtic Culture celebration being held at Macrae Meadows.
“Not only are we excited for the lineup this year, but we can’t wait to see the mountains full of visitors again for such a special occasion,” Quillin said.
The event features a variety of activities, including highland athletic competitions like caber toss and stone put, highland dancing, and musical performances.

As games begin, attendees can experience a Torch Lighting Ceremony with representatives from over 109 clans from across the country.
