On social media, Gracie Abrams revealed that she will be making her film debut in Halina Reijn’s Please, produced and financed by A24. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the plot for the new film is being kept under wraps, but sources told the publication that “a period female drama and will be a continuation of the edgy romance genre that Reijn tackled with Babygirl.”
Reijn was the director behind Bodies Bodies Bodies and Babygirl, which starred Nicole Kidman and Harris Dickinson. Last year, the Dutch filmmaker directed and wrote The Tiger, a short commercial film for Gucci, with Spike Jonze.

The 26-year-old pop singer rose to fame, thanks to opening for Taylor Swift during her Eras Tour, and is best known for the hit song “That’s So True.” She started her music career in October 2019 with her debut single, “Mean It,” and then released her first EP, Minor, in 2020. Abrams is the daughter of filmmaker J.J. Abrams and executive Katie McGrath.
While attending a Chanel event to celebrate the brand’s new Coco Crush fine jewelry in Los Angeles last week, Abrams told THR about upcoming projects and her acting aspirations.
“I love a group project. The concept of being on a set is as thrilling as being on tour where everyone who’s there is there for a reason,” she told the outlet. “These kind of creative environments are so incredibly inspiring to me. So yeah, who knows? We’ll see. We’ll see.”
The “I Love You, I’m Sorry” singer also revealed that new music is on the way, expected sometime this year. The record would mark her third studio album, following the success of her 2024 release, The Secret of Us.

The news sparked an immediate wave of reactions across social media from friends, fans and industry professionals.

“Aahhh, so stoked for you!” hair stylist Arbana Dollani wrote. “Congratulations ❤️.” Dollani frequently works with Abrams as her stylist, helping the singer with her looks from last year’s Lollapalooza and various performances from her Secret Of Us Tour.
“AHHHHHHHHHHH SO PROUD!!!!!!!” another commented.
“That’s a bold first role,” an X account dedicated to posting movie scenes wrote. “Halina Reijn doesn’t ease actors in, she throws them straight into the deep end. If Abrams pulls this off, it won’t feel like a ‘music star tries acting’ moment at all.”
One user posted, “I loved ‘BABYGIRL,’ so the idea of a continuation in tone and theme has me hyped for this.”
