In an announcement made by TV Insider on June 27, fans learned Food Network star Katie Lee Biegel has made a brand-new movie called Catch of the Day. The film will air on Saturday, August 30, 2025, and feature Emilie Ullerup and Michael Rady as the leads. And if that’s not enough, Katie also spilled on why she’s passionate about the project in a heartfelt message on Instagram.
“BIG NEWS! I am thrilled to share that I made a new movie, Catch of the Day, with @hallmarkchannel, debuting August 30th,” she wrote alongside behind-the-scenes images from filming the movie. “This is the first film I have written, and I also produced and had a cameo. It was an extraordinary experience! I love Hallmark movies and the way they make me feel, so this is a dream come true.”
“The east end of Long Island is very close to my heart, and I had the idea to for this story as I have watched more and more ‘mom and pop’ places move out,” she added. “Catch of the Day is set in Montauk, and is a story of returning to your roots, the restaurant business, love, and discovering what you really need maybe isn’t what you thought you wanted at all … I can’t wait for y’all to see this!”
When Food Network fans learned of the epic way Katie was collaborating with Hallmark, they immediately rushed to congratulate her.
“👏👏👏 unreal! You should be so damn proud, Katie. This is monumental,” one person wrote in the comments. “Love this! I love Hallmark! Can’t wait to watch it! So exciting!!” another exclaimed. “This will be a big winner, already excited for the debut! 👏🎬🥰🫶✨️❣️,” a different follower added.
As for what Catch of the Day is about, the movie will follow Sophie, a New York City culinary star whose called back home to Montauk to help her parents’ floundering seafood restaurant. While she’s trying to help the family get back on their feet, she may have a second chance at love when she reconnects with local fisherman (and former high school crush) Cam.
It’s important to note that this isn’t the first time Katie and Hallmark have teamed up on a project together. Katie’s 2012 novel Groundswell was adapted into a Hallmark movie in 2022, which starred Lacey Chabert and Ektor Rivera in the lead roles.
We can’t wait to see this one, and what other fun things Katie and the network have up their sleeves.
