HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE — The Rotary Club of Hot Springs Village recently heard from Leland Green, who is in his second year as career coach for the Fountain Lake Charter High School, the club said in a news release.
“I love that my job enables me to let the students know about different kinds of work that are out there, which many are unaware of, and to help them find their career path through volunteer opportunities,” Green told the Rotarians.
Green has made a series of videos showing volunteer opportunities in the local community that could translate into a future career for students. Sites included in the videos so far include the HSV Police Department, Animal Welfare, and the U.S. Forest Service, the release said.
Green said, “Through the volunteer opportunities they are matched with, students can see if they like the job while they also obtain experience and useful skills for their future job search.” He said he appreciates the chance to provide support for the students in areas such as résumé writing, and especially to help them identify their achievements.
“Along with helping them find their path, it is great to know we are also raising them up,” Green said.
“Rotary is a community-based civic group open to all men and women. For convenience, there are both morning and evening meeting times. Visitors are invited to attend the club’s programs at no obligation as well as learning about the fun and fellowship of Rotary,” the release said.
