GENESSEE COUNTY, MI – The Genesee Intermediate School District is launching its first-ever podcast as it looks to better inform educators and parents on recent developments in education.
The podcast, “Inside Education! – Where Education Meets Innovation,” is set to premiere on Thursday, Jan. 9.
“Inside Education!” is being hosted by GISD Associate Superintendent Eddie Kindle and recorded at the Genesee Career Institute in Mundy Township.
“We’re still working on some of the kinks of it, but we’ve actually recorded the first podcast,” Kindle said.
On the podcast, Kindle will address a range of topics pertaining to recent advancements in education as well as issues facing educators and parents.
“It’s not new, really, in education, but it’s new to us,” Kindle said.
Potential podcast topics include special education, mental health support, the role of technology in the classroom, school safety, early childhood opportunities, and career and technical training, Kindle said.
“It’s important for us to reach out to our constituent districts that we help support,” he said. “There are 21 school districts and 13 public school academies in a very large community in Genesee County, which we feel strongly about partnering with, and we just wanted to kind of be innovative in offering a fresh look into some of the successes or challenges shaping the landscape of education in Genesee County.”
Podcast episodes will also feature guests from within and beyond the district, including GISD Superintendent Dr. Steven Tunnicliff who will be on the podcast’s first episode to discuss programs, services, and initiatives implemented in the district and throughout the educational community.
“Inside Education!” episodes are being released quarterly and will be available online at geneseeisd.org for free or on podcast platforms such as Spotify and Apple podcasts.
The district might release episodes more frequently in the future, Kindle said, if public interest in the podcast continues to grow.
“For future episodes, we’ve got a lot of ideas,” he said.
